Police Hunt for Woman in Miami Shopping Spree
In a tale as bewildering as it is concerning, South Miami police are currently in pursuit of a woman who embarked on quite the shopping spree. Over six days, she managed to splurge over $6,000 at an array of shops throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
A String of Stores
Detective Jackie Del Sol detailed the escapade: “Dollar General, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, BJs.” Lavish trips also included acquiring new AirPods and a selection of jeans, with even petrol stations featuring in her exploits.
Stolen Credit Card from Gleam Hair Studio
The credit card fuelling this extravagance was allegedly procured from Gleam Hair Studio, found at 7301 Southwest 57th Court in Miami. The salon’s owner, Milanie Boyer, lamented, “I feel taken advantage of.”
The Unseen Culprit
Candidly, Boyer expressed to Local 10 News that she’d recently ordered a new credit card. Sadly, it ended up with a lady seen in footage donning a medical mask. “I don’t know her,” Boyer stated, “These con artists, they are very smart.”
Financial Imbalance and Prior Fraud
The gravity of the situation hit when Boyer inspected her business bank statements, discovering nearly 20 transactions between August 22nd and August 27th totaling a staggering $6,300. She commented, “It is a lot of money to be out of.”
Previously, she’d requested a new card due to fraud on the prior one, only to encounter misfortune again.
Repeat Offence Suspected
Police suspect this elusive woman has previous experience in such matters. “She knew to conceal herself by using the medical mask,” said Del Sol, noting her tendency to sport similar attire on most days.
Vehicle and Appearance Details
Authorities noted her vehicle as a dark-coloured Buick Encore. She is thought to be in her mid-30s to early 40s. Anyone recognising her, or having insights, is encouraged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
Community Involvement
This incident highlights the ongoing challenge for local businesses and individuals alike. Vigilance and community cooperation remain key in preventing such occurrences in future.
